Last show I went to was
- The Bigger Lights
- Anarbor
- The Audition
- This Providence
I actually really like Anarbor and my friend needed someone to go with so that's why I went. The Audition was full of douches and This Providence was pretty boring but towards the end these guys started like moshing (which is really funny if you've ever heard the band) so I joined in and it was fun.
On my way out I realized that the next show was The Smoking Popes, and got super pissed.
My next show is going to be
- Breathe Electric
- The Fastest Kid Alive
- Other bands I don't know
Another concert with bands my friends like. My best friend needed someone to go with so I volunteered again. It should be fun though, Breathe Electric puts on a good show and The Fastest Kid Alive is pretty catchy. Plus this means soon I can drag her to a show >:D

Yeah, there's this one like group of venues that are cool and have a lot of awesome shows but they just recently started having all ages shows, so I'm lucky they have them at all, I guess.
They do that all ages early 21+ later sometimes, but not when I've been able to go. :/
I heard they don't card though. So idk maybe sometime I'll just go and see if they stop me...

-
Last- Defiance Ohio
Next- Andrew Jackson Jihad. In fact, I should probably be leaving now.
-
and now I am back, I will talk more about it tomorrow, now I am going to bed. But it was a really great show.
-
The first artist was some guy with a ukulele, he had interesting stories about his songs and he talked about how he used to have a full band but the trumpeter got schizophrenia and started taking acid. The second band, Blunt Mechanic was just an ordinary punk band, and they were pretty good, they filled in as the rest of AJJ, "we will be the Andrew Jackson to Sean's Jihad" Then Sean played a few acoustic songs before Blunt Mechanic came and started playing with him, that is when things got awesome, I have never seen people stage dive in a venue that has no stage and an 8-foot ceiling, but they did. the room was packed full from wall to wall, people were lined up around the door trying to see inside, there were more people there last night than I had ever seen there before. Then The Wild went on, they were recording a live album last night, I only stayed for a few songs, but they were as good as they were the other times I saw them, I really should look into finding some music by that band, they are on Quote Unquote, so I really have no excuse.
-

Boring flier.

Cro Mags - Age of Quarrel (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJFthHp3aI8#)
-
I would see the Cro-Mags next Saturday but I'll be out of town.
-
That huge show in DC is canceled.
Also that's a bit expensive for a 3 band show.
-
That huge show in DC is canceled.
What show?
-
A time well remember fest.
-
Never heard of it.
-
A lot of the bands I was hoping to see have been canceled by me, because I got fired at work and now I don't have enough money.
So my next (and perhaps only one of this year...) is gonna be Boys Like Girls. Not really my cup of tea, but I really liked them a few years back and some of my best friends are going so I thought I might as well tag along. Nothing wrong with a bit of nostalgia, eh?

Oh goodness. I liked them when I was in maybe 6th or 7th grade. I go to kind of a lot of shows with bands like that with my friends and they can be really fun, just the people there suck like 100 times more.
-
I didn't get to hear H8 Inc. (from Detroit) because I was outside smoking, drinking, and talking to people.
YOU'RE ONE OF THEM!
Still, the show sounds like it was super fun.
-
Also I might see the Cro-Mags on November 5th. Not sure.
-
You're n one of those guys whose always hanging outside the club smoking while bands are playing.
-
Yeah, one of the people who goes outside while bands play. Not because you were smoking and drinking.
I'm 90% sure I'm going but only Outlast has been announced on the show so far and if no one I like gets on the bill I might not go. It got set up super fast cause the fest in DC got canceled.
-
Last:
Mixtapes was great it was their first ever acoustic show, apparently but they only played about 10 minutes. There were only about 5 people, myself included, that knew any Mixtapes songs, that made it even better. Theo Hilton, Ryan Woods, and Toby Foster were great, and being 2/3 Defiance Ohio they played two D,OH songs. Then Timeshares went on, then Iron Chic, they were both great. I did not see The Wild because after all of that, there were still 2 or 3 bands I had never heard of before The Wild went on last and I needed to get home. I will get another chance to see The Wild before long.
The Wild and Mixtapes had nothing for sale, so I bought "Midwestern Minutes", "The Fear, The Fear, The Fear", and "Not Like This" Also, Midwestern Minutes has got to be the thickest record I have ever bought, it weighs a ton.
Next- Bomb The Music Industry!, Laura Stevenson and the Cans, Fake Problems, The Matt Kurz One, and a bunch of other bands in Athens tonight at 8:00. Laura Stevenson's myspace page says 6:00, though but BTMI's Myspace and the venue's site says 8:00.

Last:Cro-mags/Hands Tied/Agitaor/Outlast was really fucking rad.
Next:Terror/100 Demons/Wisdom In Chains/Max penalty/Mindset/Wrong Answer
-
Last: The Flatliners/A Wilhelm Scream/Strike Anywhere
Next: Frank Turner/Lucero. Free in a huge venue because someone in Social D got sick.
-

Was I right about the CRO-MAGS show or what???
That's funny, because the Cro-Mags was the last band I saw, and the Terror tour is the next one I'll be going to...I think it's on the 18th here in Buffalo.
You were definitely right, there was no stage either so that was really cool/bad because the singer is pretty short. But it was really awesome, and my dad was bullshitting with the guy who puts on about 95% of the hardcore shows before the show and he had no idea who he was talking to. The Terror show in Philly is the 21st, i'm stoked on mindset, wisdom in chains and wrong answer being on the philly lineup also.
-
Awesome bands hardly ever come holland.
I envy all of you sometimes haha

from what I have seen, the people who say Marijuana is not a drug are the same ones who say that Tylenol is not a drug, the argument being that neither is strong as "real drugs".
-
Marijuana is a drug, it's just not a hard drug.
-
Cannabishad THC in it and it is the main psychoactive substance in cannabis. A psychoaxtive substance is: a chemical substance that crosses the blood-brain barrier and acts primarily upon the central nervous system where it alters brain function, resulting in changes in perception, mood, consciousness, cognition, and behavior. These drugs may be used recreationally, to purposefully alter one's consciousness, as entheogens for ritual or spiritual purposes, as a tool for studying or augmenting the mind, or therapeutically as medication.
Mariuana is a drug.
Why yes, I did copy and paste the definition of a psychoactive substance.
-
I think it's more important what the law calls them. In my country, cannabis is a drug and is therefor illegal
-
Wait. Weeds illegal in (shit, what country are you from)?
-
from what I have seen, the people who say Marijuana is not a drug are the same ones who say that Tylenol is not a drug, the argument being that neither is strong as "real drugs".
I've never heard that statement before...Tylenol? Aceteminophen is definitely a drug as far as I'm concerned, and a somewhat dangerous one. It's very harmful to your body and can kill you.
Regardless, like I said before; I don't believe that Marijuana is a drug...At least not in the same sense that other substances are "drugs". I do however realize that people have opinions that differ from mine and I respect them.
I guess that when I replied to US's original post about how he doesn't do drugs I should have said, "I don't believe that Marijuana is a drug" just to clarify my position.
I bet you don't believe that alcohol is a drug, too.
-
Yes, in contrary to what all foreigners think, weed is illegal in The Netherlands.
Everyone always sees my country as some sort of save haven for the stuff (especially Amsterdam), but they don't know the first thing about it haha xD
Most of the laws surrounding weed in my country are vague, and one of them is outright retarded. To sum it all up real quick:
- You are not allowed to smoke cannabis
- You are allowed a few plants per house hold
- You are allowed to carry 5 grams off the stuff, anymore and it will be confiscated upon discovery
- As a shop, you are allowed to sell it to people above the age of 18 (adults)
- As a shop, you are NOT allowed to buy it.
These are some of the basic laws in a nut shell. But there is one more, and that is that the police have authority to act on people who violate these laws. Except the first one. So while it is illegal to smoke it, no one has any right to do anything about. This is what we call 'doogbeleid', which kinda means that the government doesn't approve of it, but doesn't condemn it either.
My country is currently arguing (like always) whether or not to make it legal. If they do, they can make a huge amount of money on it and at the same time have more control over the entire thing.
And then a nutshell within a nutshell: It's illegal to smoke, but no one will stop you
(please note, I only took basic law these two months I've been at college. I am far from an expert)

So I'm not seeing The Souls on December 27th because I have to go visit family over Christmas, so my parents promised me I can see BTMI! on the 9th of January and The Menzingers on the 23rd for as long as I want, so I don't have to worry about missing any of the bands. This is very bad news and incredibly good news. Oh and I can't see Terror tomorrow because my parents decided they want to go to the Eagles game tomorrow.
-
Kill your parents.
-
After they buy all my Christmas presents.
-
So that show was great. First some guy read poetry then some girl read a poem then Ryan Harvey played for like an hour with 10-minute explanations between songs. Then The Wild played like 4 fucking songs. But it was still great.
-
I went to Boys Like Girls last friday (with two lame support acts). They were awesome.
BLG isn't really my music anymore, and it never really was. But I loved their first album years ago, so I went for the nostalgia and for the company. It was better than I expected
And last saturday I went to see two dutch bands, which I won free tickets for in a concert. It was My Favorite Scar with SeriouS as their support. Again, not really my kind of music (hardrock / post-grunge kinda stuff) but they were pretty nice. Especially SeriouS blew me away (it was their second show ever) and I was disappointed that SeriouS had no merch whatsoever.
Anywho, tomorrow I'm going to buy my ticket for Destine and Her Bright Skies for december 28th. Don't really like Destine (I think I dislike 'm, actually) but Her Bright Skies is pretty cool and my best friend wanted to go but she's not allowed to go alone.
I'm also going to buy a ticket for The Blackout this January. These guys are just awesome. Will be the third time I'll be seeing them.
But, to me, the most important one is the ticket I'm gonna buy this saturday.
Rise Against is coming to my country on Sunday the 13th of March. I know you guys don't really care much for this band, but these guys are my favorite band and I'm already stoked to see them again! This band got me into punk rock, and indirectly also got me into hardcore punk.
Oh, and in two weeks I'll buy my ticket for Groezrock 2011. Groezrock is an annual hardcore/punk/shit festival held in Belgium (in case you don't know, my neighboring country to the south).
List of bands attending:
Asking Alexandria
August Burns Red
Brotherhood Foundation
Comeback Kid
Dashboard Confessional (acoustic)
Dead To Me
Every Time I Die
Further Seems Forever
Gray Area
Hoods
Millencollin (playing Pennybridge Pioneers)
Miss May I
No Friends
NOFX
Piebald
Shai Hulud
Teenage Bottlerocket
We Came As Romans
Boy Sets Fire

Morning Again
Whitechapel
The Ghost Inside
No Trigger
Of Mice & Men
Chelsea Grin
Grave Maker
Kvelertack
Social Suicide
Hoods
The Acacia Strain
Miss May I
Impending Doom
REALLY looking forward to see both No Trigger and The Descendants.
So I guess that's it for now. Too bad the shows are all so far apart
-
There's a sweet House Boat show in Philly with good openers on a friday in December. But it's a house show so I can't go.
Fuck.
-
What's a house show, if I may ask? You mean, a show in a house?
-
yes, a show at a house or some other private residence. I have never been to any, but they are always foretold to be great.
-
Yeah, it's at a house.
They say "all shows all ages" but I still think most house shows are for letting people get drunk at "all ages" shows.
It probably wouldn't be worth it to go cause I'd be so out of place.
-
I've been to a few in my life. The bands were shit two out of the three times though xD
But yeah, it's an awesome party. Until someone calls the cops
-
Last show: Danko Jones

Also the BTMI! show I'm going to in January is BTMI!/Riot Before/Junior Battles/The Greek Favourites

I want to go to that. Like now. Last time I saw TRB I had just started getting into them and spent the time talking to people.
-
Starting to get into The Riot Before. 5 to 9 is my jam.
-
Tonight: Destine with Her Bright Skies and You Ate My Dog as support.
Destine is a dutch band, and they're alright. Nothing special though, don't even really like them.
But I've loved Her Bright Skies for a while, and once again going for the nostalgia of the good old days
-
I was gonna see Fake Problems tonight, but since that was canceled I'm going to see Beasts Of No Nation in Baltimore.
-
Last: Tigers Jaw Record Release
Next: Fireworks/Man Overboard/Vinnie Caruana/Balance and Composure/Transit/Hostage Calm +1 or 2 special guests tomorrow at The First Unitarian Church (my favorite venue)
