Title: What Operating System should I put in my next computer?
Post by: Floyd on June 29, 2010, 10:34:45 pm
It's an old Pentium 2, ram and hard drive space depend on what I can find to put in it, probably 64mb of ram or more and a 4gb hard drive.
It was designed for Windows 95, It had Windows 98 when I got it, I have read that most Linux operating systems run nicely on a Pentium 2. it has nothing right now, thus I need to install something.

I have read about Windows 7 on a Pentium 2 with roughly the same hardware as I am using, it took 3 days to install an it takes 1 hour to boot up, I really want something a bit faster.

Windows 98 is just a gussied up Windows 95, it was garbage when it was new. I am seriously considering some form of Linux, it's one of the few operating systems I have never used.
