Floyd's Random Thoughts / More Random Thoughts
« on: December 24, 2011, 06:42:28 pm »
Tomorrow is Christmas so here is this:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Nfgdr4fOS8
but on a more important note...
THIS IS MY NEW YEARS EVE:
The Max Levine Ensemble
Hungry Hungry Humans
The Disregardables
Bad Mammals
Rubrics

Also, I will be seeing TMLE on the 28th in Athens too. Speaking of Athens, I was talking with someone on the internet the other day, and there may be a new space in Athens and I am going to try to help out with it and stuff, here is where the discussion took place: http://pix.hijinx.nu/index.php?topic=38559.0. So if that happens, it will be awesome. Also I got an old electro-mechanical adding machine the other day, a Commodore it looks great sitting next to my old typewriter. re-installed Windows on my laptop the other day after it's built in network adapter died and I got a PCMCIA adapter to replace it. after I did that I ran windows update and let it update everything without upgrading to sp3. I wish I had not because the laptop is slow-ish now, but that could just be because I am using the latest Firefox all the time now. I would have a radio show now but the server software has not been re-installed on my laptop yet. I feel like there is something else to say here, but I can't think of anything, so I guess that is all

In case you couldn't figure it out by that picture, November 29 was my birthday. I am now 22, I am checking into the nursing home next week. In other news, I have a new computer monitor, a 20" non-widescreen LCD, as my old 20" CRT died. I also bought some RAM for my computers but it did not work in my server, so I put it in the OS/2 computer where it only recognizes half of it. I spent 40 dollars on RAM I could not use. there are not a lot of shows this month, but The Max Levine Ensemble are playing a new years eve show at Wonderroot, so that should be great. The Wild is opening for Against Me! at The Masquerade, but fuck that. TMLE! also I think The Disregardables are going to be there. I have to admit, this new monitor is pretty great it's all thin and stuff, it's like I am living in the future.
What else happened lately? Nothing, November was a very boring month with no shows. The last show I went to was November 8, The Wild and Vacation at Wonderroot, before that I saw Timeshares and a bunch more bands at The Poopparty Palace on the first. I want to keep talking here but I have absolutely nothing to say. I think I am going to post the Google Analytics stuff sometime soon, I finally found out how to make it not count me, so now the site averages 2 visits a day, instead of 20. but there are two other visits from in Georgia. I demand you show yourselves, we can hang out for real and stuff.

Nobody reads this why do I even bother, I could unplug the server and nobody would know.

Website News / I think my internet is fixed now.
« on: October 21, 2011, 11:03:51 am »
A few months ago the internet provider in this area sent my great aunt a DSL Modem. she has no computer and has no idea how to use one,  so I kept the modem for myself. I installed it here today and my internet seems to be a lot more stable now. the fact that I had to install software on my computer to use it and jump through a bunch of hoops on the ISP's website to use the modem is a bit unsettling, if they can redirect my internet to their website any time they want to, it makes me wonder if they can see what I am doing here. anyway, everything seems to be in fine working order, and according to an internet speed test, it is slightly faster. The new modem does not seem to have any new features, and the download speed is still only 3 mbps, even though the modem is called the "gigaset" I can still enable port forwarding and disable the firewall, so that is all that matters.

Yes, since there has been no real Strike Anywhere news of late, I am talking about other music, so sue me. IT'S MY WEBSITE, I DO WHAT I WANT.
Anyway... yesterday a new song by The Wild surfaced, in support of Occupy Atlanta.
Listen to it:
I cant embed this music player in forum :(
Scroll down to the bottom of http://asianmanrecords.com/ to download or donate.

Also... The Max Levine Ensemble made a video for their song Big Problems USA.
Watch it:

Floyd's Random Thoughts / Well... It's October now.
« on: October 02, 2011, 06:25:48 pm »
I have not posted much here, because nothing has happened. I went to 2 shows last month, one with Theo Hilton, D-Flo, Places to Hide, and a band I had never heard of called the Hail Seizures, they were awesome, the other was the night before last, it was a super last minute show with The Wild at Wonderroot. Last night I saw Andrew Jackson Jihad at the Masquerade. It kind of sucked except for AJJ. I am never going to the Masquerade again if I can help it. Anyway... I have not posed here in over a month, so I figured it was time to let all you nonexistent readers know I am not dead. I finished watching Star Trek: Voyager today, now I can say with 100% certainty I have see every episode of every star trek ever. I don't know what to do with my life now. There is a ton of shows coming up this month, in the unlikely event someone reads this, and you can come to one of these shows, you should come hang out with me, I have found that I quite enjoy talking to people.

Strike Anywhere News and Discussion / Strike Anywhere Tour dates
« on: August 26, 2011, 01:44:01 pm »
wait... what? The fuck is this shit?
holy crap, Strike Anywhere news on a strike anywhere forum!
Anyway, according to Punknews.org
Quote
Strike Anywhere has fleshed out their previously announced tour around Riot Fest with A Wilhelm Scream and The Copyrights. The three bands will play a handful of northeast shows, then Dead To Me will take A Wilhelm Scream's spot on the remainder of the dates in Canada and in the midwest. Leftover Crack will join the three on the Detroit stop of the tour.
I think the main question here is why are there no Atlanta dates, or anywhere south of Kentucky, for that matter. Also, who thinks I should use the forum's new fancy calendar thing to post this? I don't really want to, it would just serve to remind me that strike anywhere never comes here, then I would be sad.

They are not. When I upgraded the forum I corrupted the database. I was able to recover the members and topics, but not whatever file that said the topics exist, so I had to manually re-create all of them, by making new topics. When I made a new topic with an ID number of 3 it re-created the old topic number 3 but said that I created it on the day I made the new one instead of the day it was originally made. Any new topics created by other people will bear their names as will any responses to old topics.

Topics with more than one page are a bit more involved, I have to split them at the end of the first page then  merge the two split topics back together. After that, I can delete the posts I made and it will say it was made by it's original creator. I have already done this to all the topics in General Discussion, Music, Strike Anywhere News, Strike Anywhere Discussion, and Computers and Technology.

If you want to post in one of these and I have not already fixed it, post here and I will.

Website News / Forum Upgrade- SMF 2.0
« on: August 14, 2011, 11:03:25 pm »
I upgraded the forum, but all of the topics are hidden and for some reason any user with 0 posts no longer exists. When a new topic is made, it is posted as a reply to an old topic in order that they were originally created. I have about 187 topics to re-create and put back into their original subforums. if anyone wants to help, restoring an old topic is just as easy as making a new one, and it will say you created it even if you did not.

That is done, Now I need to re-install all the add-ons. but now I am going to bed. More updates tomorrow.
