Website News / HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
« Last post by Floyd on November 11, 2013, 05:56:39 pm »
Yep, it was on this day in 2009 that I first brought this website on-line. a bunch changed and then it died and now it's basically just here for me to have cheap, fully-controllable online storage. Who knows, maybe one day after the facebooks and tumblrs gone away and this social networking fad is dead this website will make the comeback it always deserved.

Floyd's Random Thoughts / A bunch of random stuff to keep this place on life support
« Last post by Floyd on September 18, 2013, 10:51:12 am »
So this website's former competitor, punkcdsampler has been taken off-line. I guess that means I win. This website will be here forever because it costs next to nothing to keep online.
In other news I GOT A NEW COMMODORE 64 AND IT'S REALLY GREAT. ALSO, IT'S JUST 43 DAYS UNTIL THE FEST!!! What else happened lately, well shows in Atlanta have not been happening as much lately and I don't know why I guess its because all my friends moved away. I really want to start having radio shows again too I know I said that in may and have not had one since then but maybe it will happen again who knows. I made a kind of great MS-DOS clone for the Commodore 64 I may post it on here soon who knows. anyway I cant think of anything else to post here so I guess that is all

Music / Mixtapes
« Last post by Floyd on June 21, 2013, 01:59:41 pm »
Mixtapes is the only band that is close to being as good as Strike Anywhere (The Wild is another) and Mixtapes has a new music video, it's on MTVu of all places which is weird, and honestly this video isn't half as good as some of their others (The New Ride The Lightning, Anyways, and Taking a year off come to mind) but it's still pretty great, also it is one of my favorite songs so that is good too.

Watch it now.

[I can't embed this video in the forum, sorry!]

Website News / I fixed a problem with the forum that has existed since 2011
« Last post by Floyd on May 17, 2013, 06:33:30 pm »
This sounds kind of stupid but I finally got around to fixing all the topics in General Discussion so that they list their original creation date and person instead of me. Sure, it has been wrong ever since August 14, 2011 when I upgraded the forum and corrupted the database but better late than never right!. Honestly, I just got really nostalgic for the old days and wanted to go read some of the old topics and had to fix them first. If anyone wants to post in the again and bring them back to life, that would be great!

Website News / Thoughts on Radio Shows
« Last post by Floyd on May 07, 2013, 10:40:43 am »
Last night I had the first radio show since December, I think, and people came and music was heard and it was really great. If that many people would come to the next one I would start having them on a regular basis again. the best part was that it was people who have never even been to one before, but that is not to say that my internet friends shouldn't come, you should too. everyone should come because that is when the shows are the most fun, when lots of people come and there is lots of great talk about lots of stuff and the music is just shared background noise. Also, if this happens again soon, YOU NEED TO REQUEST MUSIC, I HAVE NEVER BEEN GOOD AT MAKING PLAYLISTS but I really want to start having these again, back in 2009-2011 when they were in their height and before I started going to shows these were the funnest thing and I met some of my best internet friends all because of a dumb chatroom with a music player attached.
on an unrelated note, I HAVE A TICKET TO FEST SO I WILL SEE YOU ALL IN FLORIDA!!!

!!!Two East Coast US Strike Anywhere shows this summer!!!
6/15- NYC, NY at: Bowery Ballroom w/ Subhumans !
6/16- Washington, DC at: Black Cat Backstage

We are thrilled to announce that we will be playing with the Subhumans in NYC... lineup and ticket info can be found in the link below. Also... because we gotta drive past DC to get back to Richmond... we figured... why not stop and play a show and give DC a little love. So... we'll be headlining the Black Cat Backstage... lineup to be announced soon!

Maybe I can make it to DC, it's only like another hundred miles past Richmond!

Website News
Goodbye, everyone!

After four long years, I have finally decided to pull the plug on my website. I had a good run, but I need to face facts that nobody posts here anymore, I don't even post here anymore. If you want to keep up with me go to my facebook page at facebook.com/FloydAtha or my tumblr at floydatha.tumblr.com. I am going to join twitter next week, Social Networking is amazing! I will leave this message up for another week, after that, the server will be turned off and all the hard drives will be erased. Thank you for four great years.

That is all, Hailing frequencies closed
-Floyd

That is what the front page says right now. If you are reading this now, don't worry, this website will never die.

Next week we will be announcing 2 US East Coast shows that are happening in June!!! One headlining show... and one show opening for a band that has been influential and inspirational to us for decades! Any guesses???

Not Rancid. Not Black Flag. One city was guess correctly
That is also good, two terrible bands that are definitely not playing, the cities that people guessed were New York City, Norfolk (probably west Virginia) and Richmond Virginia. I will go if it is RVA, who knows maybe it will be somewhere even closer. I am fucking stoked about this and I hope I won't be disappointed.

UPDATE:

I won't say who it is... but another hint... this band is not from the US.
so, the other band is some band that I don't care about. Well, at least Strike Anywhere is on the east coat
Also, I am just going to say this, but those facebook updates read like they were written by someone who does not speak english as their native language, but who knows it just reads kind of awkwardly.
