A band can't help who listens to them...(Um, Floyd, I believe I saw some Green Day discs in your collection, didn't I?)Pennywise is a legendary band that has been around for a LONG time, before it was "popular" for drunk college frat boys listen to it"...Just because a band reaches some level of "mainstream" success doesn't make them any less important. If that were so, Rise Against would have lost their credibility too.
I forgot, you guys don't like Bad Religion either. Another LEGENDARY band who's "boring", right?
And the "acoustic folk inspired punk" or whatever you want call it that you play on your radio show isn't?
"...they have. A long time ago. No one but college kids and A-F fans care about RA now."Just in case you forgot, RA has made some incredible music during their career and like I said before, just because certain people choose to listen to them NOW does not diminish what they have done in the past. They started out just like any other band, paid their dues, and god forbid that they're lucky enough to be able tour the world, sell records, and make a living off of their music. Even though I don't really care too much for their new stuff, they still do a lot of good work (as far as the causes that they believe in), have something important to say to the masses, and haven't forgotten where they came from.Yeah, but their music sucks now. That's all I'm saying."Right."Well, that's your problem. You don't respect the history of punk at all. Without Bad Religion and Epitaph, punk music WOULD NOT be where it is today, and pretty much none of the music that you listen to would be around.Just like when I started listening to music, the people that were making it were influenced by certain bands. I didn't act high and mighty and say "those bands suck, they're not punk." I respected them and even got into a lot of them because I wasn't a snob. I was open minded.K. I like some old bands. Not a lot, but some. And I appreciate the pioneers, but what's important is right here, right now. Punk is at an amazing point right now, as well as music in general, and it's silly to dote on the past when the present is so fucking awesome."That's right."You are entitled to your opinion, but I don't have to like it. If you give me some of that or some Pennywise and Bad Religion, you know what I'm going to choose. What do you think of these bands???The Circle JerksI like em. Don't listen to them much, though.Bad BrainsIs this before or after they started making reggae music? They were great before. The ExploitedUgh. No thanks.Minor ThreatTruly amazing band and Ian Mackaye is a really nice guy.SubhumansListened to them once or twice but not enough to have an opinion on them. The ClashSuperb band. I love them.Dead KennedysGood. Not really for me, though. The RamonesI could take em or leave em.The MisfitsI could take em or leave em.
