Website News / wow much spam

in the last three days a few thousand spam posts and nearly 200 spam accounts joined the forum. that is the most activity i've had on here since 2012. i ended up just restoring a backup of the database from july 2, as nothing had changed since then. now im actually going to have to fix the antispam system.

Website News / We're Back On-Line!

well, mostly anyway. the hard drive on the server died, fortunately i was able to back it up and no files have been lost. the whole site is running in vitrtualbox on my main desktop right now, so until i can get a new hard drive for the real server the website will only be online from about 9am till 11pm. maybe more but probably not, i dont like to leave my bedroom desktop running at night. im probably going to get a ssd now so the website will probably run better than before, but it will obviously be a while before i can get one in, i haven't even ordered one yet. pata ide hard drives of any kind are getting hard to find.

wow three posts in a month, that hasn't happened in years.
ok so while i was off tumblr yesterday i made some updates. most noticeably, this isn't "the internet's only strike anywhere message board" anymore, but i talked about that yesterday. also i replaced the chatroom on the radio show page, so that works again. still no idea when i'll do another radio show, i don't even have the broadcast software installed on my computer anymore. there is a new thing in the computer stuff section about running windows media player 10 on windows 10, maybe it will prove useful to someone. people still come here for program manager and desk.cpl. i guess that's all. maybe this won't be the end of the newfound activity on here.

Website News / chorus of one 4.5?

this isn't going to be a strike anywhere message board anymore. considering there isn't anybody on here anyway, that's probably doing the band more harm than good. the website will live forever, but from now on it's going to just be more general interest. perhaps focus more on computer stuff. it's still chorusofone, and will always be the most diy website this side of 1998, but with tumblr's future uncertain, i need a place i can go if that place disappears.

so tumblr has a bunch of awful new regulations, and has banned adult content. this website was basically founded as a way of complaining about another website that did something similar so it seems appropriate that im gonna spend the day on here instead of tumblr. a bunch of other people are logging off tomorrow too. maybe i'll just post some dumb memes on here to fill the space left by tumblr, maybe i'll do something interesting. anyway if any of my followers from tumblr stop by here, feel free to reply to this, you don't have to register on the forum guests can do it too. you have to give me your email address but dont worry i wont use it because i never got any kind of email server working on here, i always just had to use my personal account anyway.

well anyway, welcome, tumblr followers, pull up a groove and get fabulous. there isn't much going on here but maybe we could change that.

this place is more dead than it has ever been. i should do something new and interesting with this. put more computer stuff up here idk. seems like i spend all my time on tumblr now, also going to shows. oh well see you all again in like two years.
also i archived all the news from 2015. it's here now.

Website News / happy new network card

i finally replaced the network card that the lightning fried a couple weeks ago. that's all i guess. we have a nazi for president now that's lame. i need to actually buy a new network card for this thing, i had to go thru like three before i found one that worked without having to hunt down drivers. gigabit LAN would be nice but it wouldn't make anything faster for you, i should see how much a new card would cost. it would be weird spending money on this website, its been running seven years (HOLY SHIT!) and hasn't cost anything but electricity.

if its any consolation, it doesn't do it in microsoft edge. i dont have google chrome on my computer to test it with this may be a firefox exclusive problem, it may be a problem that only i have idk idc.

Website News / So about that outage...

you probably didn't notice that the website was offline yesterday and the day before that. well, my old DSL modem died. I got a new one yesterday afternoon and got the website back online shortly after. this new modem is 6mbps and has built-in wifi. supposedly it would even support https, if i can figure out how to do that. anyway, you won't notice much difference, as the upload speed is basically the same as the old one, but its still pretty cool to finally have wifi in my house.

title pretty much sums it up, after sitting on it for a year, the 2014 "news" has been sent to the archives. i only left it here because it filled up some blank space on the main page, but maybe this year i'll fill up the main page with real stuff. probably not. tumblr and facebook choked out everything on the internet but dumb games and listicles.
Also, I took down the Links page they were mostly dead anyway. I replaced it with a new Music Stuff page. It's Here.
also i changed the tumblr link to the way it was originally.

Website News / Happy Birthday to the website!

today is the 6th birthday this dead website, nothing happens anymore, but its still there, chugging away on that old pentium 3 in my basement. for a full history, go here.
PS. Fest was a few weeks ago, and it was great! OH AND THE WILD ARE PLAYING A SHOW IN ATLANTA NEXT MONTH! WITH NANA GRIZOL!!!

HOLY SHIT I UPDATED SOMETHING!. Windows 8 and now 10 are here to stay, so i put up the instructions on how to make the display settings control from Windows 2000 (desk.cpl) run on them. you can find this fancy new article here or talk about it on the forum here. OK, thats all, see you in another two months. PS Fest Countdown is functional, but i haven't uploaded it yet and probably won't. ok bye.
